U.S. Probes Complaints of More Ford Truck Brake Failures

U.S. Probes Complaints of More Ford Truck Brake FailuresTSC Ford Specialist knows the importance of our braking systems in the vehicles we drive, and safety is our main concern. So, when the U.S. probes complaints of more Ford truck brake failures, TSC Ford Specialist pays attention and is right on board to help rectify the situation quickly.

After a recall of 271,000 six-cylinder F-150s from 2013 and 2014, even more Ford F-150 pickup truck models are now in question regarding safety.

Regulators are considering this new recall because of high complaint volumes. Fortunately, there have been no major crashes or injuries reported, but The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has now received approximately 25 complaints of sudden brake loss in 2015 and 2016 trucks.

With the Ford F-series pickup being the top-selling vehicle in the U.S., this comes as a disappointment to Ford manufacturers and drivers. However, we understand that unexpected problems occur from time to time, even in large manufacturing operations, but hopefully, Ford rectifies it quickly.

Here are some of the chief complaints that have been brought up by drivers:

  • Complete loss of brakes
  • Brake warning lamp illuminating
  • Brake pedal going completely to the floor
  • Low or empty brake fluid level levels

These are extremely frightening situations to find oneself in, and Ford is doing their best to address the situation from this point going forward.

A spokeswoman for Ford stated, “Ford is committed to delivering top quality in our vehicles. We continuously evaluate our processes for potential improvements, and when the data indicates a safety recall is needed, we move quickly on behalf of our customers.” That is extremely reassuring for all the dedicated Ford drivers out there. She also stated that “we have not launched a recall to fix brake issues on the 2015 and 2016 F-150 at this time.”

Alongside that statement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that they opened an investigation “to assess the scope, frequency and safety-related consequences of the alleged defect in the subject vehicles.” Of course, all of this will need time and attention, but it looks like both agencies are on board to get some fast results for their customers.

At this point, service centers such as TSC Ford Specialist and dealerships have been given instructions on how to resolve the problem related to the 2013 and 2014 model recalls, which is to replace the master cylinder and brake booster if leaks are found in the master cylinder. We’ll keep an eye out for another update to see if a new recall surfaces and requires the same type of repair.

As the U.S. probes complaints of more Ford truck brake failures, remember to drive safely and give yourself plenty of room. Since we’re yet to know if there will be another recall, what models will be included and what the exact issue might be, we recommend proceeding with caution. If you own a 2015 or 2016 F-150 and are having brake issues, you’re welcome to bring your truck to TSC Ford Specialist. We’ll provide an inspection, make sure everything is working correctly and keep you safely on the road.
